30 Days To A Better Squat

Sunday, November 18th, 2012

Many westerners are unable to squat because they have limited flexibility in their ankles and calf muscles.

In the case of long-time runners and desk-bound athletes, flexibility is sometimes so limited that they fall over backwards when they try to squat.

It took me lots of effort to even be able to squat at all, but now I want to ratchet my fitness up a notch to become truly good at squatting.

I think you’ll be surprised at how much your squatting ability can improve in a very short amount of time.

This 30-day trial is already proving beneficial after two days, and I’m squatting better and free of running-based ankle pain for the first time in years.

Check out the video below to see what I’m doing.

Getting A Great Strength Workout On A Playground

Monday, November 5th, 2012

Clutch Hold

Don’t feel like going to the gym? Tired of all those weight machines? All you need is a good playground.

In a recent email to readers of the Raw Food Health Journal I mentioned that since moving to Austin, Texas a few weeks back I haven’t been to the gym, and yet I’m still improving my strength.

How do I do it without barbells and other weights? I simply to play on the playground. My play is a bit more focused, but not so very different than what kids do.

If you have gravity, your own body weight, and something to hang from, you can make yourself very strong indeed.

In this video I show you just a few of the effective things you can do on a playground to build strength.

Losing 100 Pounds (And Counting) On A Raw Vegan Diet With Richard Widmark

Monday, October 29th, 2012

Imagine losing 100 pounds and still having 300 more to go to reach your goal weight. The idea seems staggering, but that’s where Richard Widmark is today.

Richard got his weight loss started with a cooked vegan diet, but he’s now concentrating on one that is low fat, raw, and vegan.

I talk to Richard about his goals, what he eats, where he stumbles, and how he keeps himself inspired.

Also in this episode I explain how often you should be exercising for optimal improvement and talk about some of the very cool activities I’ve found in my new home, Austin Texas.

Show Notes:

1) Our persimmon raid on The University Of Texas’s Austin campus.

2) Richard Widmark’s website, which includes links to his youtube videos.

3) Fighting Candida with the right kind of raw diet.

4) My raw tomato corn slaw

5) What do I think of the Woodstock Fruit Festival.
