New Website ( Goes Into Stasis)

Wednesday, January 20th, 2016

First off, thanks for being a reader of

I created this site in 2008 as a hobby; I was working full time as a newspaper reporter, but huge numbers of the people I ran into every day wanted to grill me about the raw food diet I had used to defeat my intestinal disease, colitis, more than anything else. They had health problems of their own, and wanted my help and advice.

I gave it, but I realized that it was an inefficient way to go about helping people. I created this site as a way of disseminating the life-changing power of a raw diet more readily, and it worked.

Millions of people have visited since 2008. I get emails from people daily telling me how the hundreds of articles, videos, and podcasts I’ve created here have changed their lives for the better.

The architecture of this site is outdated, however, and transferring it over to something else would require tons of work.

So instead I’ve decided to start from scratch with a new brand covering a slightly wider range of related topics.

Yes, I’ll still be talking about the power of raw fruits and veggies, but I’ll also addressing mindfullness/meditation, fitness, and a wide variety of lifestyle issues. will stay up so people can still benefit from the huge amount of content here, but all or almost all of my future efforts will be directed at my new site.

The new site is called Renaissance Humans, and you can check it out here:

Why You Should Eat Chemically-Sprayed Produce

Friday, June 27th, 2014

Have you felt guilt over not choosing organic?

Have they told you that you’re hurting your kids and damning yourself to cancer and other diseases?

I eat more fruits and vegetables than almost anyone due to my raw food diet, but I can’t say I lose sleep over eating conventionally-grown foods.

How can that be? Aren’t those chemicals toxic?

In this video I explore whether  food that’s sprayed with tons of synthetic fertilizers, pesticides, and fungicides are really as dangerous as they say.

Do they cause cancer and other diseases?

Should we all be buying organic instead?

Check out my video below to find out.

Paw Paw Festival

It’s Paw Paw Season!

There’s a delicious fruit coming into season that might be growing in your back yard, but virtually no one knows about it – Allow me to introduce you to the Paw Paw.

The Paw Paw kept Lewis and Clark’s expedition from starving, and fed the early settlers of the United States.

It was a favorite desert of George Washington, distracted entire regiments (who preferred chowing down in orchards to to fighting) during the Civil War, and was incorporated into the managed food forests of the Native Americans.

Since the industrial agriculture and transportation system took over, though, food has strayed from its local roots, and outside of its native range, the paw paw has been mostly forgotten.

In episode 27 of the Raw Food Health Podcast, we’ll talk to Chris Chmiel, a paw paw farmer who founded the Ohio Paw Paw Festival, and now seeks to get this fruit a bit of well-deserved attention.

We talk about the paw paw, foraging for it in the wild for fun and profit, the Ohio Paw Paw Festival, and how you can get your hands on some paw paws if you live outside of its usual haunts.

In the show I say Chris’ Farm is in Athens County Georgia. It is actually in Athens County Ohio
