It’s watermelon season – Can you pick a good one?
It’s summertime, and that means cracking open watermelons in the sunshine. I always anticipate the start of prime melon availability in June; there’s just something about ripping into their juicy flesh that’s indescribably joyous.
And so fresh from wiping some watermelon juice from my chin, I’m here to give you a few tips on how to find good ones.
A lot of people have trouble picking out good watermelons, but its hardly a crap shoot, and you can avoid hauling home mealy, tasteless fruit. Despite being encased in a thick rind, watermelons give us hints as to what lies inside of them.
